Biblical Christianity—Marc Ruel [French]

Before the Church, God had a people, He also had prophets who revealed His thoughts. There was obviously a revelation of God Himself in connection with His various names which indicate the character in which He made Himself known. Under the Old Covenant, His name is Jehovah. But until then there had been no revelation of the heavenly counsels which had been in God's heart from the beginning. This was impossible because they are related to heaven and not to earth. So it was not until the coming of the Son that they were revealed.

So what is the distinctive character of Christianity that sums up all the others? It is that in Christianity heavenly things were revealed. They were hidden during the time in which the Old Testament believers lived, but they were revealed by God, through his Son whom He sent and through the Holy Spirit.

Christianity is the revelation of the eternal and heavenly things that lay in the heart of God before the foundation of the world. We are talking about the eternal counsels of God that have no beginning, the plans that He has proposed in Himself from eternity. Ephesians 3:11 speaks of the "purpose of the ages", that is, the eternal purpose of God.
